Act Two:

1.    Find evidence that Montano and the Third Gentlemen respect Othello, consider him brave, and are concerned for his safety.

2.    Find examples of Cassio’s opinion of Desdemona.

3.    Find evidence that Cassio respects Othello and is concerned for his welfare.

4.    In what specific ways can we see that Iago and Cassio are character foils? (Character foils are opposites) (antithesis).

5.    By the end of Act Two, Iago has managed to get Michael Cassio dismissed without any hint of scandal falling on himself.  How has he been able to manipulate events so cleverly? (no quote necessary).

6.    Explain the significance of Iago’s conversation with Cassio after Othello leaves in Act Two. (No quote)

7.    Review Iago’s conversation with Roderigo in II.i.217-241. Loosely paraphrase his speech.  Consider the following: What disparaging remarks does he make about Desdemona and Othello?  How does he describe Cassio?  Of what does he reassure Roderigo?
