Eng 10 Metaphor Assignment: Due Mon. November 5th

Examine the extended metaphors on pages 68, 72, and 80 of your red Inside Stories II book.  These lengthy metaphors go into a lot of detail about the object of comparison, so as to fully describe the person in focus.  The reader can get to know what the person or place is like without having met the person or seen the place (even without anything concrete said about them).

Extended Metaphor Paragraph: You will be creating your own extended metaphor.  Select one of your one-line metaphors you made in class and write about it in more detail (metaphorically) like Charlotte in the story "The Metaphor".  Use visual, descriptive, and emotional language to enhance and detail your metaphor.  This should be 10 sentences long.

Explanation Paragraph: In plain language tell me what or who your metaphor is about.  I do not know the person or the place you are describing, so you will have to describe them to me briefly.  If I do not have this information, I will not be able to see if your metaphor makes sense.  This should be approximately 5 sentences in length.
